The Caladrius Chronicles is a fairly new Vella with an outstanding voice, introducing us to an escaped science experiment trying to survive a dystopian cityscape long enough to save their family.
Bunker Dogs is gripping in the best of ways. It's the perfect sort of unsettling from the get-go and still Greenwood manages to turn the story on its head. Definitely recommend starting this if you're a horror fan!
Slit Throat Saga is a wild ride featuring Meta Humans (whose blood runs clear) and a society that sees them as abominable monsters dead set on eradicating them from existence. But all is not as it seems.
Monster Hunter Mitchell is my surprise favorite read. I thought I'd enjoy it, but not as much as I did. The levity, supernatural horror, and world building all shine under Sorrell's fantastic prose!
Fantasies are fairly prevalent on Vella right now, but Barry K. Gregory's "A Thing Immortal" is one of the first 'Dark Fantasies' that I've come across, and it makes for an original and engaging read.
This has been my biggest surprise so far, I think. The world building is gradual, but perfectly executed. The world building is visceral, and the characters are really enjoyable. Can't wait to dive back into this one!
The pandemic has, without a doubt, been rough.
But what if it'd been worse? What if things only got worse after the TP shortage of 2020. . .
Check out Hunter Chadwick's "After It's Over" to know what that reality might have looked like.
